Homewood’s fall centers on two places this year: the pumpkin patch at Miss Sims’ Garden, open every day through Halloween, and the Fall Festival at Central Park on Sunday, Oct. 25. Both fall in the city’s centennial month, so the garden’s scarecrow contest has a 100-year theme.

The 8th annual HWD Scarecrow Contest asks for a scarecrow representing a Homewood icon from the last 100 years, kept family-friendly. Entries were due at the garden by Oct. 1; public voting runs through Oct. 29 and winners are named Oct. 30. Prizes include cash for the top three and gift cards or vouchers for categories such as People’s Choice, Most Creative, Spookiest and Funniest.
