Homewood’s burgers come from two kinds of place. Downtown and SoHo have the sit-down kitchens: Whiskey Foxtrot on 28th Avenue South, Big Bad Breakfast on 29th Avenue South and Salem’s Diner on 18th Street South. The drive-thrus line State Farm Parkway and Lakeshore Parkway near Wildwood, Oxmoor Road and Oxmoor Boulevard, and Green Springs Highway.
How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Homewood’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 17, 2026. We added Big Bad Breakfast and Salem’s Diner, whose own sites list burgers at lunch, and the McDonald’s on Green Springs Highway, whose location page gives a Homewood address. Bham Burger and Hamburger Heaven have no website we could find; we kept them because each had a 2026 Jefferson County Department of Health inspection. We left out the Wendy’s on State Farm Parkway, whose location page no longer loads and which had no 2026 inspection we could find, and the Wendy’s and Sonic on Valley Avenue, which are in Birmingham’s city limits. Bham Burger is at 815 Green Springs Highway. It has no website we could find; the county health department inspected it on April 15, 2026.
Big Bad Breakfast in SoHo is a Southern scratch diner that serves breakfast, brunch and lunch. Its site lists burgers, sandwiches and a fried chicken sandwich at lunch.
Burger King on Oxmoor Road is a location of the national chain. Its store page did not load for us; the county inspected it on Sept. 28, 2026.
Cook Out on Lakeshore Parkway is a location of the drive-thru burger chain. Its location page did not load for us; the county inspected it on Sept. 4, 2026.
Hamburger Heaven is at 180 Oxmoor Blvd. We could not find a website for this location; the county inspected it on Aug. 3, 2026.
Hardee’s on Oxmoor Boulevard serves charbroiled burgers and hand-breaded chicken tenders, with breakfast until 10:30 a.m. Its location page lists a drive-thru, Wi-Fi, a playground and delivery.
McDonald’s has two Homewood restaurants. The one on State Farm Parkway is open around the clock, and the one on Green Springs Highway keeps its lobby open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a 24-hour drive-thru.
Milo’s on State Farm Parkway is a location of the burger chain. Its location page did not load for us; the county inspected it on June 4, 2026.
Salem’s Diner on 18th Street South serves breakfast and an early lunch, and its site names cheeseburgers, club sandwiches and Philly cheesesteaks. It closes at 1 p.m.
Whataburger on State Farm Parkway, at Wildwood Parkway, lists its dining room, drive-thru and delivery as open 24 hours, with curbside pickup from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Whiskey Foxtrot Burger Shoppe in SoHo was opened in 2021 by brothers Ben and Zac Williams, who grew up in Hueytown. Its site lists American Wagyu beef burgers, hot dogs and sides with craft beer, and indoor and outdoor seating.
